The next project for the NOT NORMAL NOT OK campaign is really exciting and one we believe will have significant impact across the city. Working with RSVP and West Midlands Police, we are building a bespoke training programme for venue and event staff – helping them to see, challenge and combat case of sexual violence and assault whilst in the workplace.
Our training programme team will deliver a series of workshops to venue and event staff across the region, walking them through a specially tailored training programme – giving them the confidence and skills they need to fight sexual violence. There will also be a NOT NORMAL NOT OK campaign ‘tool kit’ available to all venues with signage, handouts, information with help and advice for the public, campaign accessories, and everything a venue or event needs to show that sexual violence will not be tolerated.
We will also be working with licensees, event operators and venue management to establish a proactive working relationship with the relevant responsible authorities – we want to see venues celebrated for addressing issues around sexual violence, as well as helping them challenge it.
RSVP are designing a one off training programme for that looks at the specific problems and situations venue staff might encounter when tackling sexual violence, with extra training for the NOT NORMAL NOT OK team who will be delivering the workshops. All of this will be available to venues free of charge and endorsed by West Midlands Police.
