Venue staff training and ‘tool kit’

NOT NORMAL NOT OK is building a bespoke training programme for entertainment venues and event staff – helping them to better understand and challenge sexual violence and aggression.

Through a series of workshops, delivered through staff training sessions, NOT NORMAL NOT OK will look at the culture of sexual violence, how it impacts specifically on the night-time economy, and how people working within the entertainment industry can help make their venues safer spaces and safeguard the people who attend their events.

There will also be a venue ‘tool kit’ made available to licenced premises with signage, handouts, information with help and advice for the public, and campaign accessories to help a venue show sexual violence will not be tolerated.

NOT NORMAL NOT OK will be offering the staff training and ‘tool kit’s free of charge to an initial steering group of venues, who will help shape and evolve the programme – to then be rolled out across the region subject to further support.

We will also be working with licensees, event operators and venue management to establish a proactive working relationship with the relevant responsible authorities – we want to see venues celebrated for addressing issues around sexual violence, as well as helping them challenge it.
